One of the most memorable artists from The Voice Season 20 is Victor Solomon. The 22-year-old recently earned the audience vote in the Live Playoffs on Team Legend.

John Legend has called Victor his “classic soul king.” He has the honor of being the first person to turn Legend’s chair by singing the coach’s own song during the Blind Auditions. Now he’s in the Top 9, and he has a chance at moving on to the Finals.

‘The Voice’ Star Victor Solomon Is a College Student

Victor attends North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, the top public HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) in the country, studying Business Management. Not only that, but he was named the 14th Mister AT&T for the past school year.

“Although this past year looked nothing like I expected it to, I am grateful for the opportunity to have served my prestigious University,” Victor wrote of the honor on Instagram. He also went on to become the 17th Mister HBCU.

He Won a Talent Show with John Legend’s Song

Victor auditioned for The Voice with a cover of Legend and Common’s song “Glory.” He turned three chairs, including Legend himself — something that has never happened before on the show. Victor shared that he won a talent show in eighth grade with a performance of another Legend song, “Ordinary People.”

Victor said he grew up singing a lot of Legend’s songs. When Legend heard his talent show story, he picked up a microphone and offered to duet “Ordinary People” with Victor. Obviously the singer chose to join Team Legend after that.

Victor Solomon Has a Girlfriend Named Ciarra

Victor has posted several photos on Instagram with his girlfriend, Ciarra Noelle, who attends his university and also owns a hair company. On one of their photos together, Victor wrote in the caption, “I know she the one fa me.”

On his birthday in September, Victor shared another sweet snap with Ciarra, writing, “I prayed for God to send me a woman like you.” He called her “the perfect birthday gift.”

He’s Already Released Music

Victor has released several singles over the past few years. In 2019, he put out a cover of the Christmas song “Mary Did You Know.” Then last year, he released the original worship song “You Are.”

Victor also put out an original campaign song while vying for the Mister AT&T title, and he performed “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone during the talent portion of the competition. You can listen to Victor’s recorded music on his Spotify page.

Victor Is Most Comfortable Singing Gospel Music

According to his The Voice bio, Victor started singing in church when he was just 6 years old, and he continues to sing in his school’s gospel choir. He admitted in an interview that it can be tricky moving into other genres, especially R&B. Victor said he found Usher’s “U Got It Bad” for the Battles to be “very hard,” and he was constantly practicing.

“Sometimes while singing I get really excited about where God has brought me and where he’s taking me!” Victor wrote on Instagram, adding that he “would not be where I am today without God.”

We’ll find out soon if Victor makes it to the Finals of Season 20. Will he branch out into even more genres? We can’t wait to see.
