It was great to see an outpour of love for Sasha Allen on this season of The Voice U.S. Sasha was the U.S. series’ first transgender singer to surpass the battle rounds. When it comes to The Voice U.K., Jordan Gray made history as the first transgender singer in the semifinals back in 2016.

Meet Jordan Gray, The Voice‘s First Transgender Singer

In 2016, Jordan took to The Voice U.K. stage singing “Just Like a Woman” by Bob Dylan. She showed off a beautiful voice, but didn’t turn any chairs at first. Luckily, this singer had a second chance on the series. JJ Soulx withdrew from the season for personal reasons, so Paloma Faith chose someone to replace her. She was able to turn the chairs of both Faith and Rick Wilson. Jordan was picked to be JJ’s replacement on Paloma’s team and was more than thrilled to compete.

Even though the coaches didn’t originally turn their chairs for Jordan, fans of the series loved her. She went all the way to the semifinals and was eliminated after singing “Dancing in the Dark” by Bruce Springsteen. Technically, Sasha and Jordan are tied in the ranking for going the furthest in the competition.

What Has Jordan Done Since The Voice U.K.?

This The Voice U.K. alum goes by the name Talldarkfriend on both Instagram and Twitter. In both social media biographies, she states that she is a comedian, screenwriter, and script consultant. Even though Jordan was on The Voice U.K., she’s gone on to have an acting career.

Most recently, she’s been credited for writing episodes of the mini-series Transaction, on top of acting as the character, Liv. In addition to her acting career, Jordan has been sharing photos from performances at comedy clubs. These clubs include Little Smash Comedy, Neon Flamingo Comedy, Stamptown, and others.

As of right now, it seems like this The Voice alum is working and performing locally. Even though she isn’t a huge name in her industry yet, she doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
