Some music collaborations are just the perfect matchup. On an episode of Hillary Scott’s Country Faith Radio program, NeedtoBreathe’s Bear Rinehart opened up about working with Carrie Underwood. He said working with Underwood was “more scary than getting married.”

In the interview, Rinehart spoke highly of the acclaimed Country star. “She’s super sweet,” he said, explaining that some previous collaborations were not so pleasant.

Underwood and NeedtoBreathe Join Forces

“Nothing But the Blood Of Jesus” premiered March 10 on YouTube. This was the first single released off Underwood’s upcoming album My Savior, which comes out on March 26. The project contains hymns that Underwood sang in church while growing up. In a behind the scenes video, the Grammy winner shared how she and NeedtoBreathe modernized the traditional hymn for the album.

“I feel like this one was one we were searching for what it should be,” she said. “It’s just very kind of loopy and I really only thought of one way to do the song and trying to kind of mess with it a little bit.”

Underwood also shared that keeping the music more acoustic and minimal would give it a fresh take. Rinehart hopped on the track to add some tempo and harmonies.

“I Wanna Remember” Performed at the CMT Awards

More recently, the artists teamed up and performed their recent release “I Wanna Remember” at the CMT Awards. It is a love song about wanting to stay in one moment for as long as you can so you’ll always remember it. The song has over one million views since it premiered on May 20. The gorgeous performance was displayed on a circular stage, surrounded by flowing white curtains. They performed facing one another on stage. All the member of NeedtoBreathe were dressed in all black, while Underwood stood out in a bright white suit.

All in all, the collaboration has the chemistry it takes to produce some amazing work. The on-stage performances of My Savior: Live From the Ryman will be released on DVD this Friday, July 23. The concert video is available for pre-order now.

From the trailer, you can see a special on-stage moment between the artist and Rinehart. It seems like the duo has what it takes to make a hit. I can definitely see more collaborations from these two in the future, maybe an entire album next time.
